PowerPoint Integration Service

Let's say you're webcasting a presentation - a meeting, a class, anything. During the video you have a PowerPoint presentation. How do you incorporate the PowerPoint slides into your webcast?

There are a few ways to do it.

The easiest way would be to post a link to the PowerPoint file next to your webcast link or video. There are two issues with this:

  • The people who click on the link must have PowerPoint or a PowerPoint viewing program installed on their computer.
  • The person viewing the presentation has to figure out which slide the presenter is on.

Another way to incorporate PowerPoint into your webcast is by including it directly into your video. With this method, you would switch between the video feed and the PowerPoint slide. There are a number of issues with this method as well:

  • You may need additional switching equipment to switch between the video and the slides.
  • You can only have either the slide or the video displayed at one time. If you switch to the slide, you may miss something important in the video.
  • You may be webcasting at a lower bit rate to accomodate your users. If you are and you try to mix your PowerPoint slides into your video, the slides may be illegible.

How do you get around all of these pitfalls?

We've had a number of our clients ask us for a way around this. In response, Webcasting.com developed a software application that embeds the PowerPoint slides directly next to the video window.

The PowerPoint slides are all previously converted to image files - this means the person watching them does not need PowerPoint or a PowerPoint viewer!

Of course, since the slides are next to the video rather than IN the video, the viewer will not miss any action in the video - and we do not need any special switching equipment to switch between the video and the slides.

But here's the best part:

When your audience is watching your webcast, the slides in the window AUTOMATICALLY advance just as they did during your actual presentation! Your audience does NOT have to click on anything to skip to the next slide! Webcasting.com's PowerPoint Integration Service automatically presents your audience with the current slide!
