Using Microsoft Expression Encoder with Webcasting.com

You can use Microsoft Expression Encoder to stream and to record your video. Here's how:

1. When you open up Expression Encoder, click on the "Live Encoding" button:

2. Plug in your camera to your computer. It should be listed under "Device Configuration" in the settings area. You can configure the settings as needed, add multiple cameras, and add additional file sources like pictures, video clips, etc.

3. You can select the video and audio quality under the Encoding tab.

4. The Output tab is where you set your streaming and achive settings. If you're using the PULL method, where Webcasting.com pulls your live feed from you, then select "Broadcast" and put in your port number.

If you are using the Pull method, select Broadcast and enter in your port number. If you have a firewall, you may need to setup a Port Forward. You must use the same port number that Webcasting.com has set in your My Channels area of Customer Portal. You can request to change your port by opening a ticket. Please keep in mind that changing your port may take 12-24 hours to take effect on all of our servers.

Also under the Output tab is the File Archive section. You can record a copy of your video at the same time you are broadcasting it live. Later, you can FTP the video file to your Webcasting.com account.

5. If you're using the Push method to stream your video to Webcasting.com, it will ask for your username and password when you click on the "Pre Connect" link above. Your username and password were emailed to you when your account was setup. You can also find this information in the My Channels area of Webcasting.com's Customer Portal.

6. When you are happy with your settings, click Start to begin webcasting and recording. That's it! You're now Webcasting!

7. To watch the video, use the Watch URL address sent to you when your account was setup. This can also be found in the My Channels area of Customer Portal. It will look something like this: http://www.webcasting.com/links/your_publishing_point.asx. You can email this link around and post it on your website for your audience members.

That's it! You're now webcasting!
