Webcasting 101

The Basics

You want to webcast your events to 5, 50, 500, or even 5,000 people at one time. The problem is, your Internet connection can't possibly support that many people watching simultaneously. What's the solution? Instead of trying to send your stream to all of your viewers using your Internet connection, you send one stream to Webcasting.com and Webcasting.com replicates it, on the fly and in real-time, to however many people need to watch.

Webcasting.com has servers all around the world in high-speed data centers which are designed to distribute your video to any number of people simultaneously.

Figure 1: You stream your video to us and we stream it to the masses in real-time.

Here's How it Works

You connect your camera (or cameras) to your computer. You can use either Windows Media Encoder or Microsoft Expression Encoder (help me choose) to stream your video to Webcasting.com. Our servers then broadcast your video out to the world. We give you the link to watch the video. You can post this link on your site or email it out to your audience. All they do is click and watch! Archiving Your Webcasts

You can use either Windows Media Encoder or Microsoft Expression Encoder to record video as well. After your event is over, you can upload your videos to your Webcasting.com account to make them available for on-demand viewing.
